The CMI trolley with the built in Safety Back-up is the only zip line trolley designed to prevent the two halves of the trolley from disconnecting from the cable in the event of a trolley failure. The Safety Back-up will prevent the rider from falling in the event of a trolley failure
What is the difference between the CMI trolley and other zip line trolleys?
The Rule of Thumb is to have 6 - 10 feet difference between the start end and the finish end. 6 foot being a slow ride and 10 feet being a fast ride. The longer your line, the greater angle you will need. This is where the ART of building a zip line comes in. If you install a FLAT line, the rider will stop 1/2 way through the ride
What angle do I need for the zip line?
Due to decreased working load of the 3/16" cable over long lengths. I only sell 100 ft and 150 ft lengths of the 3/16" cable kits. If you are wanting a longer run or plan on riding large teens or adults, you will need to upgrade to the 1/4" cable.
Why do you have the 3/16" kit listed for KIDS & TEENS ONLY ?
There are two main types of brakes used with zip lines. The first uses the back tire off a riding mower, or a small four wheeler tire. You mount the tire on the line before you rig it up. You then attach bungee cord from the tire to an adjecent tree, or a screw in ground anchor off the side of the finish end. The rider hits the tire and pulls against the bungee cord and stopping before reaching the end tree. The 2nd brake uses a BREAK BLOCK instead of a TIRE. The breaking process is the same, but the BREAK BLOCK looks better then the tire. Can be purchased on (PARTS PAGE)
How does the Brake work ?
Chain will not cut through the bark of the tree and makes adjusting for speed very easy. You can purchase the chain at your local Hardware Store and I discuss the attachment in the Helpful Tips Booklet (not included with kits)
Why do you suggest using CHAIN to attach the cable to the tree ?
As mentioned above, the 3/16" kit is intended for smaller kids and teens. The 1/4" cable has a 7000 lb breaking strength and the 3/8" cable has a 14400 lb breaking strength. Both the 1/4" and 3/8" cable kits are great for Kids and Adults. The 3/8" cable kits include a Larger Heavy Duty Trolley and are especially good for lines higher off the ground.
What is the main differences between the kits and cable sizes ?
All of my kits include GALVANIZED CABLE. The galvanized cable will last for years with very little maintenance. I would only suggest Stainless Steel Cable for installations over Salt Water. Stainless Steel can cost as much as 3 times the cost of Galvanized. Someone has started a rumor that Stainless Steel cable rides smoother. Both the Stainless and Galvanized have about the same quality of ride.
Stainless or Galvanized Cable ?

The return reel is a Large 8" reel with a built in clutch system to prevent the line from unspooling when the rider stops. When the 1st rider stops and exits the line, the 2nd rider spools the trolley back to the starting point. The reel includes 400 ft of line and a mounting bracket.
How does the Return Reel work ?
You can set 6x6 treated posts or small uitility poles in the ground and use them as anchor points. You will have to use guy wires from the top of the post or pole backward to prevent them from bowing in toward the line. You can purchase the small guy wire from Lowes,Home Depot, or your local hardward store.
